If Pastor Steve had a dollar for every time he’s heard that expression … well, he wouldn’t be driving the car he’s currently driving around Lincoln. Let’s just leave it at that!

Every June, Pastor Steve Davenport and a team of brave adults who serve as cabin leaders make the trek to Maxwell, NE and Camp Maranatha with a bus-load of rambunctious middle schoolers. Two weeks later, he does it again with high schoolers.

What better way to spend a week of your summer than out at Maranatha Camp with your youth leaders and friends from Calvary! Not only will you have the most fun of your life, but you will be challenged spiritually and meet over 500 cool people from 17 other churches from Missouri, Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska. Everyday there is a morning chapel with our very own mad scientist, Mr. Wizard, who does amazing science experiments like the tornado of fire, flaming pickles, propane bubble bomb, diet coke missile and other crazy experiments. (Don’t worry we haven’t lost anyone yet!)After chapel you have time just to chill with the Calvary youth and leaders to talk over what God is doing in your heart. Sometimes it is good for us just to slow down and have someone that loves us listen to what we are going through.

After lunch there is a crazy activity for everyone. Imagine more than 500 people playing capture the flag, sliding on an 80 foot slip and slide, launching potatoes across the lake and even making boats from cardboard and racing them across the lake! Soooooo much fun!

Each afternoon there is also time for you to hang at the waterfront and launch people on the blob 20 feet into the air, or just take a nap on the beach front. With wakeboarding, tubing, canoeing and the Sweet Shop your afternoon of free time is perfect for having a blast with your friends.

At night we have chapel time where the speaker will challenge you in your faith and the worship band will help us focus our hearts on how amazing our God is.Some of most life changing decisions are made in this setting where we are all seeking after God away from all the pressures of our regular life.

There is a different theme for costumes and games each night at chapel. People put on ridiculous costumes and really go all out. There will be a spirit award each night for the church that is most creative or funniest as a group, so put some thought into it and bring your best costumes! Calvary’s counting on you!
